This is a sculpture in my town to comemorate the fishing heritage, apparently there is a simular one in iceland looking in the direction of this one,id like to shoot the other one sometime,i did this in colour and like all my shots tried it in b&w,i think it works better.The title is stolen from my favourite music artist David Bowie,

very atmospheric silbo. Your framing is perfect here. i'm glad your favourite artist is david bowie as wannabe from spice girls just wouldn't fit the picture. nice mono too.

Hiya Silbo. Very good picture indeed, I especially like the sky, so full of mood. I often wonder why municipalities spend so much money on pieces of "Art" that nobody can really identify with. For the life of me, I cannot figure out how this sculpture is connected with the sea, fishermen, or any other kind of marine activity. Not too sure if the heavy shadow on the head works though. I agree about this looking great in B&W (without having the color to compare it to!), especially since it does look so Martian (and not like a fisherman at all)!

No, you got 11. And with good reason too. My own prediction came true ;-) You did so right to convert this Sil. the texture is so cool against the sky. Like these dark shadows (head) but love the little scrathes that give theis own little shadows

Thanks for your comment, Silbo. I'm liking this ahot a lot. You should keep it quiet that the monotone was an afterthought, the tones and textures here are perfect. Yeah, this is a beautiful photograph.

It has a very surreal nature to it. There are a series of similar statues in Liverpool created by Antony Gormley, very surreal too!

It's a great shot, the sky is quite something.

.. but I can't understand why 'they' chose a scrawny and naked sculpture to represent a fisherman. *shrug*

I do see a pattern in your images, you love sharp images and monochrome, cool, Although I have to remind you I do noty like anyone who has a "better" csmera than I do, so you have joined the group of people who I have to find where they live and come over to "collect" my 5D back
